Now patients and families have another option for treatment in their community at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia Pediatric Multispecialty care center that opened in October 2020. An official ribbon-cutting event was held on Nov. 4, 2020 to promote the new ambulatory care center to the public.
The Pediatric Subspecialty clinic offers services like pediatric neurology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric hematology and pediatric cardiology with the same level of care patients would find at Children’s Hospital of Georgia
“We’re here to provide outstanding educational opportunities for our students and the most cutting edge, high quality, compassionate care for our patients that we possibly can. And the best way for us to carry out that role, especially as it relates to our patients, is to be where our patients live,” said Augusta University President Brooks A. Keel, PhD. “So it was hugely important to us to expand out well beyond what we call the mothership — downtown — and be out in the neighborhoods where our patients live.”
Augusta University Health and the Metro-Augusta Chamber of Commerce officially opened the care center along with a new AU Health Imaging clinic. AU Imaging is an independent diagnostic testing facility that features services such as MRI, CT scans, ultrasound and 3D mammogram.
The two clinics, located at 3722 Wheeler Road, bring expanded services with the same quality of care as the downtown medical center to a more convenient location on the Richmond-Columbia county line.
